The rules of the road for using Tallyd — in plain language.
Last updated — April 2026
01
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Tallyd, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use our services.
We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of Tallyd after changes constitutes acceptance.
02
Account Registration
You may create an account using email/password, Google OAuth, phone OTP, or magic link authentication.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.
You must provide accurate and complete information during registration and keep it up to date.
You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account.
03
Acceptable Use
You agree to use Tallyd only for its intended purpose: tracking and splitting shared expenses with groups.
You may not use Tallyd to conduct fraudulent transactions, money laundering, or any illegal activities.
You may not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or exploit vulnerabilities in Tallyd's systems.
You may not create automated bots or scripts to access Tallyd without our written permission.
You may not harass, abuse, or harm other users through the platform.
04
User Content & Data
You retain ownership of all data you enter into Tallyd, including expense records, receipt images, and group information.
By using Tallyd, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data as necessary to provide our services.
You are responsible for the accuracy of expense data you enter. Tallyd is a tracking tool and does not verify financial transactions.
Group data is visible to all members of that group. Be mindful of what you share in shared groups.
05
Group Membership
To join a group, each member creates their own free Tallyd account.
Group data — expenses, balances, and settlements — is visible to every member of that group.
Group admins can add or remove members. Removing a member does not delete the shared history they were part of.
We reserve the right to limit or remove accounts that are inactive for extended periods.
06
Payments & Settlements
Tallyd facilitates expense tracking and generates UPI payment links for convenience. We do not process payments directly.
All actual monetary transactions occur through your bank or UPI provider. Tallyd is not responsible for payment processing issues.
Settlement records in Tallyd are for tracking purposes only and do not constitute legal proof of payment.
07
Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Tallyd runs in your browser and requires an internet connection to sync and access your data.
We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability. We will provide advance notice when possible.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with reasonable notice.
08
Limitation of Liability
Tallyd is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months (which is zero, since Tallyd is free).
We are not responsible for disputes between group members regarding expense splits or settlements.
09
Termination
You may delete your account at any time from the settings page. Account deletion is permanent.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive behavior.
Upon termination, your right to use Tallyd ceases immediately. We may retain certain data as required by law.
