Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and optionally your phone number. If you sign in via Google OAuth, we receive your basic profile information.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you use Tallyd, including expenses you create, groups you join, and features you interact with. This data is used to provide and improve our services.
Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system, browser type, and IP address for security, analytics, and service optimization purposes.
Receipt Data: When you use the receipt scanner, images are processed locally on your device. Parsed text data (item names, amounts) is stored as part of your expense records.

How We Use Your Information
To provide, maintain, and improve Tallyd's core features including expense tracking, splitting, and settlement.
To authenticate your identity and secure your account.
To sync your data across devices when you are online.
To send important service updates, security alerts, and support responses.
To analyze usage patterns in aggregate to improve the product experience.
03
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption both in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).
Your expense data is stored securely on our servers and synced to your devices whenever you sign in.
Access tokens are short-lived (15 minutes) and refresh tokens are rotated on each use to minimize security risks.
We do not store passwords in plain text. All passwords are hashed using bcrypt with appropriate salt rounds.
04
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
Expense data is shared only with members of groups you belong to, as required for the core functionality of the app.
We may share anonymized, aggregated data for analytics purposes that cannot be used to identify individual users.
We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
05
Your Rights
Access: You can view and export your data at any time through the app settings.
Correction: You can update your profile information and correct any inaccuracies in your account settings.
Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data from the settings page. This action is permanent and irreversible.
Portability: We support data export so you can take your expense history with you.
06
Third-Party Services
Google OAuth: If you choose to sign in with Google, Google's privacy policy governs the data they collect during authentication.
Frankfurter API: We use this open-source API for currency exchange rates. No personal data is sent to this service.
We do not integrate with any advertising networks or third-party tracking services.
